The 2 to 5 & 7 Day "GERONIMO-PERFORMANCE-Cruising " and SAILING ADVENTURE TOUR
Go to the lower part of this page for the details, Sample Itinerary for Regatta Sail- Crew Training
Customized for Ocean- Regattas-Coastal Cruisers and what to expect on the Geronimo:
Starting in 2010 we are planing Sail&Stay-Geronimo Training-Flotillas, the same Training as the
"Onboard the Geronimo" but you will be on a Charter Yacht from our Partner Company, your Yacht and the
other Charter Yachts will be exercising all maneuvers simultaneously, with instruction from the Geronimo
close by.  You will be able to see Boom & Sail Trim on the Geronimo and the other Yachts, and you will be
Cruising just like being in a Regatta going to the mark.  We will be sailing every day to a fun location for
our Training,we  Anchor and compare notes at our R&R break. We Train on our way back to the Resort for
the Resort-Restaurant-Bar Island-Visit-Time. During the on the 'Water-Sail-Time", Crews can come onboard
the Geronimo, for sail-trim& Crew Practice.  You will experience the incredible beauty of 'Life at sea". You
would be amazed how good it feels to be Skipper at Sea !   We will do all the Spinnaker Training on the
Geronimo, alternating the crews, with all Boats viewing this exercise from their Anchor Position, as it will
be too difficult to do on the Charter Yachts as most Charter Yachts are not set up for Spinnaker.  Please
restrain from laughing or smart remarks, until it is your turn to be "Fore Deck Crew". ( Wet foot Team )
This is an important maneuver for you to understand, or "How to Breach" or "How to loose a Mast", easy!
Set Spinnaker in the wrong order!!!  Most Racing Teams train with 2 to 3 Boats together, the most effective
way to learn.  Our goal is cruising and fun training, with friends and friendly Sailors.  Can you think of a
better way to have Caribbean Vacation? We can't! That is how we got to the Caribbean in the first place - to
have fun! Optional: simultaneously  RYA Sea Miles & ASA sailing school certification,on board skippers are
available.  We can highly recommend this flotilla training if you intend to enter the "Bareboat Class" in the
Caribbean Regattas.

We have a total training experience planned for you when you sign up for training on the"Geronimo" Tour

We are pleased to offer you the following:
You will be Cruise Training on a true ocean racer - not a race cruiser or one design windward-leeward boat, but on our
42' Denchomar Doug Peterson keelboat, custom designed for ocean racing including a variety of racing sails, the
equipment (winches, hydraulic mast adjustment, high free board, low cabin top for heavy weather in extreme
conditions) and everything else that was specifically built on the Geronimo for long distance ocean racing.  Her wide
beam makes for great handling and exceptional main cabin space and comfort.  In addition, when we say that the
Geronimo sleeps a 9 person crew, we refer to the fact that there are 9 actual crew bunks as defined by international
regulation. Our sleeping accommodations on seats in the salon are "Lee-Bunks", not seats you can sleep on at when
the boat is level, as many other sailing yachts claim to do.  Our bunks are convertible to be genuine crew bunks.
Please refer to the pictures of the interior of the Geronimo where you can see some of the bunks in the up position.

Your daily training includes the "One-on-One" instruction for cruise sail-settings, helm and balance, where you practice
trim, steering, tacking and jibing with the spinnaker and simultaneously you will train with the full crew team rotating at
all positions, fore deck and main/mast teams, to be in tune for overnight cruising. We will be standing 4 hour watches
in full race trim, at our" 24 hour day", which may include Spinnaker Running and Broad-Beam-Reaching, the crew
member- teams are important, as to have the best team combinations ready at all times, day or night.  As we are Port
most nights, we can answer all questions in the evening at the Resort, and plan our sailing strategy for the next day,
so that we can include all the steps and maneuvers crew members could use some help on. Once again, you do not
need sailing experience. This is the best and most effective way to experience it all.  At our last regatta to Mexico, it
took our new crew 45 minutes in four attempts to get the spinnaker up, comical at times, but the next time, they had it
up and set in seconds. The point is, as we have time to get it right, so we do not damage the equipment or have crew
members in potentially dangerous positions, after your training you be able to go ocean cruising safely, day or night as
a two-handed couple or with a minimally experienced crew.  Captain Bruno & Nanette, with no extra crew just returned
the Geronimo from the Regatta "Del Solalsol" from Cancun, Mexico to Florida, 500 sea miles in two and half days,
including one night with 26 knot winds for 6 hours until close to sunrise.  In order to do that safely with only two people,
it was a matter of the correct sail plan, and a good working autopilot which though not legal to use in the race, autopilot
was extremely useful on the return trip.

During a flotilla tour, the Geronimo enjoys the occasional encounter with another sailboat for
an informal match race.  Crew members take  this opportunity to learn the importance of race
strategy as shown here in pictures from a match race training with Capt. Zee of the Oceanis 461 "In Our Dreams" .

Onboard both boats were new crew members that saw first hand what it takes to out point
another sailboat, essentially taking the  wind out of their sail.  The match race was all in
good fun,but keep in mind every Captain plays to win.

GERONIMO out-points and forces IN OUR DREAMS to tack away.

As Capt. Zee is a former first place winner of the Regata Del SolalSol and has extensive
racing experience, it is a particularly satisfying encounter to play with the Oceanis and test
one's racing skills.  The wind was in our favor on that afternoon, but as all sailors will point
out, that the wind is our fickle friend and prone to change.  Our flotilla tours allow for
an informal schedule, with plenty of time for match racing, and exploring the Caribbean.
